NRA Membership

Today I received my NRA Membership Card, something I will renew and keep until the day I die!

I’m proud to be a member of two organizations that protect the freedoms of each and every American, the National Rifle Association of America and the Republican National Committee! We live in the greatest country in the world with freedoms like no other! I’m proud to be a member of these two organizations because freedom matters and “The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”.

Yes, there are still people in this country that use our guns for good, not evil. I’m one of them! I use my guns for hunting and self-defense, not to shoot innocent people! There’s a difference! I love my guns, I will keep my guns, and there is nothing you can do about that! 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Rev. Graham

We have lost a great man! God has called Rev. Graham home. Graham’s ministry brought Christ’s message of love and freedom to the world and he changed the lives of millions of people. His inspiring faith and his commitment to the Word of God has inspired Christians all over our country. He will be greatly missed among Christians and among all Americans.

Rest In Peace Billy Graham (1918-2018)! You will be missed but I believe you are home now!

My one purpose in life is to help people find a personal relationship with God, which I believe comes from knowing Christ.
— Billy Graham
I’ve read the last page of the Bible. It’s all going to turn out all right.
— Billy Graham
When I was president, I was thankful that Billy came to the White House to visit. He has no political agenda. He has an agenda of the Lord.
— President George W. Bush
Had it not been for the ministry of my good friend Dr. Billy Graham, my work in the civil rights movement would not have been as successful as it has been.
— Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
— John 5:24

Local Flooding

I would first like to extend my thoughts and prayers to all Eastern and Southeastern Ohio residents that have been affected by the flooding. For some, it has affected them at home, water rushing into their homes and damaging their homes and personal belongings. For others, it may include destroying their business along the river; causing them to close down and not be able to operate.

A special thank you to our Police, Fire, and EMS Departments throughout Eastern and Southeastern Ohio, who, despite the flooding, are protecting lives, property, and directing traffic here in our communities; we don’t say thank you enough. We are praying for all of you, for a safe return home to your families. Thank you to all who helped local businesses by moving things out so they are not destroyed by flooding. That is what America is all about – coming together to help our friends and neighbors regardless of backgrounds of beliefs.

God Bless every single one of you that has been affected by the recent flooding and may you bounce back from this disaster.

OAG Files Lawsuit Against DuPont

(MARIETTA, Ohio)—Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today filed a lawsuit against the chemical company DuPont, alleging that for decades, DuPont released a toxic chemical from its plant on the Ohio River, despite knowing the risks it posed to Ohio’s citizens and natural resources.

The lawsuit seeks restitution and damages for Ohio. It says DuPont should bear the cost of investigating and cleaning up contamination from the chemical — perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) — which DuPont used to manufacture Teflon products from the 1950s through 2013.

“We believe the evidence shows that DuPont kept releasing this chemical even though it knew about the harm it could cause,” Attorney General DeWine said. “We believe DuPont should pay for any damage it caused, and we’re taking this action to protect Ohio, its citizens, and its natural resources.”

PFOA, also known as C8, is a man-made chemical that is not found naturally in the environment. Exposure to PFOA has been linked to health problems in humans, including kidney and testicular cancer, thyroid disease, low birth weight, and high cholesterol. It builds up and persists in the blood, and it is known to be toxic and carcinogenic in animals. It is extremely persistent in the environment, in both water and soil, and is resistant to typical environmental degradation processes.

According to the lawsuit, DuPont released PFOA from its Washington Works Plant for decades, even while its own internal research and medical staff concluded that PFOA was toxic to humans and to the environment, and that community members were at risk of exposure.
Instead of notifying the community or taking steps to reduce the risk, DuPont allegedly increased its use of PFOA, releasing more PFOA into the air, water, and land around the plant and contaminating soil and water in Ohio.
A 2017 University of Cincinnati study, which analyzed blood samples collected between 1991 and 2012, found that residents of the Mid-Ohio River Valley had elevated levels of PFOA.
The Attorney General’s lawsuit alleges, among several counts, that DuPont negligently caused environmental contamination and created a public nuisance by allowing PFOA to enter air, soil, and water in Ohio.

In the lawsuit, Attorney General DeWine seeks relief including:

  • A declaration of DuPont’s duty to compensate Ohio for expenses related to the contamination.
  • Damages for injury to Ohio’s natural resources, including the economic impact to the state and its residents.
  • An award of present and future costs to clean up PFOA contamination.
  • Restitution damages for profits DuPont obtained through the conduct.

The defendants named in the lawsuit are E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. (DuPont) and The Chemours Company, a spin-off business of DuPont’s that was founded in 2015 and assumed operations of DuPont’s performance chemicals business.

The lawsuit was filed in the Washington County Common Pleas Court.

State of the Union

Wonderful speech last night from President Trump! I agree completely with everything he said. We got a lot done in 2017 but we’re not done. 2018 will be busy too! Some of President Trump outlined plans are to keep ‬Guantanamo Bay OPEN, which it needs to be. We are going to fund our military so they can fight and win! We are also going to keep fighting so that every American can take home more of their hard earned money and give them a break on their taxes.

“To everyone still recovering in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, California, and everywhere else — we are with you, we love you, and we will pull through together.” – President Trump

“In America, we know that faith and family, not government and bureaucracy, are the center of the American life.  Our motto is ‘in God we trust.’” – President Trump

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is a man of compassion and dedication. He reminded us all that “human progress never rolls in on wheels of inevitability,” and that “the time is always ripe to do right.” He told us that we are all created equal, endowed with unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

We should all be committed to honoring Dr. King’s legacy. That means recognizing the human dignity in everyone. It means protecting the right to vote. It means ensuring that everyone is "not judged on the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

As we remember Dr. King on his birthday, let us remember his legacy that still lives on, and the challenge that remains.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.
— The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
At The King Center, we refer to [Martin Luther King, Jr. Day] as a day on not a day off. It’s not a day to hang out at the park or pull out the barbecue grill. It’s a day to do something to help someone else. That can be as simple as delivering someones trash or picking up the newspaper for the elderly lady who can’t get to the end of the driveway. Bottom line is you’re doing something to benefit someone other than yourself. That’s the proper way to remember my uncle and the proper way to celebrate The King Holiday.
— Isaac Newton Farris, Jr. - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Nephew

Holiday Message

From my family to yours, I wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year!

The Holidays, no matter what we celebrate, are time to get together with family and cherish the time you have together. For Christians, it’s the birth of our saviour Jesus Christ is a manger in Bethlehem!

For the Jewish, it’s a time to commemorate the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire.

For African-Americans Kwanzaa is time to celebrate the African heritage in African-American culture.

To our men and women in uniform, at home and abroad - Thank You for everything you do to keep America and our allies safe. We are thinking of you and praying for your safe return.

Special Holiday wishes go out to our fellow Americans in Puerto Rico, who after the devastation of Hurricane Maria, will spend this holiday season in the dark as the island is still without power. I pray that the people of Puerto Rico can rebuild their island, fast. And you will rebuild it fast because you are Americans and we all help each other in times of need. 🇺🇸🇵🇷

So, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy New Year!

U.S. Coast Guard Station Fairport

Took a trip to the Cleveland area to visit my cousin Allyson, her husband Kevin, and their son Asher. So glad we were able to come up and visit, it was wonderful to see them. Thanks to Kevin for taking me on a tour of U.S. Coast Guard Station Fairport, and for telling me about the Coast Guard.

Thank you for showing me around and telling me about the Coast Guard and thanks for letting us come up!

Endorsement for Ohio Governor and Lt. Governor

I am proud to announce my endorsement for Governor of the State of Ohio. I am endorsing current Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine for Governor and Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted for Lieutenant Governor.

Mike DeWine loves Ohio and cares passionately about our state’s future. He knows that every parent wants their kids to have an opportunity for a solid education, a healthy life that is free of drugs, and a good paying job later in life. Republican leadership has righted the ship in Ohio, but Mike knows that we have a chance to propel our state even farther ahead.

Mike knows that for our state to succeed in the future, we have to take efforts to create and retain jobs in Ohio to the next level. By curbing excessive taxation and burdensome regulations, his focus will be on creating a more inviting business environment and bringing and keeping jobs in Ohio.

Jon Husted is an accomplished conservative who shares Mike Dewine’s passion for better jobs. Jon is a young leader with an optimistic vision about Ohio’s future. Together, they will fight to end the opioid epidemic that has ravaged our state.

Mike Dewine and Jon Husted will bring opportunity and prosperity to all of Ohio.

Steve Scalise Back to Work

So glad to see Congressman Steve Scalise back to work. In June we were all scared, wondering if Steve would make it out alive. But thanks to the Almighty God, Steve is still here. He’s going to be able to walk, but he’s going to have to relearn how to do it. He’s back in the House chamber and he is immediately back to work.

That shooter attacked Steve but it wasn’t just an attack on Steve or the Capitol Police. It was an attack on the entire Congress and the entire nation. The shooter thought he could knock us down but he was wrong. The United States of America and our Congress can’t get knocked down and when we’re injured, we bounce back twice as high.

Glad to see you back at work Steve. I’ve been praying for you and you’ve been in my thoughts everyday. God bless you and your family Steve. Let’s get back to work. 🇺🇸⚾️
